The capital is a wonderful example of the artistic culture of the Severian period (II-III century AD).
Altogether it includes twelve figures. The four largest, carved on the main faces, half-length and protruding, depict secondary marine deities, two male and two female, probably Neptune, Amphitrite, Oceano and Teti.
At the corners are carved pairs of tritons in the act of playing shells, clearly visible only in the upper part of the body while the tails are flattened in the background.
