The Palazzina del Belvedere was erected in 1931 as part of the redevelopment project of the area after which the pre-existing buildings were demolished and the adjacent staircase titled to Virgil was realised. Tradition has it that the staircase was in the immediate proximity. The Palazzina houses important archaeological evidence and from the belvedere, to which it owes its name, it is possible to admire a breath-taking view of the internal harbour and the seafront of the town of Brindisi.
